5 out of 5 stars Fair Priced and Sturdy   August 24, 2010

For paying less than $100 dollars for this record player I was pleased to find that it works quite well. Sound quality is good, although it could probably be a little better. The product itself feels sturdy but not heavy, and its compact design is perfect for a college student like myself. Ideally this would be best for someone living in an apartment or dorm or other smaller room. External speaker additions are a nice touch as well, I hooked up some older speakers I had in the garage to it and the sound remained great.

If you're looking for a cheaper but well built and impressive record player I would highly recommend this one. If instead you're looking for a high end superior player, such as one with Vinyl to MP3 capabilities or insane audio quality, you may want to skip this one.

I bought the Crosley CR40 Mini-Turntable (Red)from amazon, it got to my house within days. the look of it is beautiful, its small enought to travle without getting busted, it has up tp date plugs and fits 3 different sizes in records. the only thing i have an issue with is that the sound isnt as loud as id want it to be, but you have the options to plug bigger speakers into it and thats awesome.

4 out of 5 stars I love it!   July 14, 2010

This little record player is adorable and a good value for the money I spent. It's internal speakers are just what the other reviewers said; lacking. However, I hooked it up to a little guitar amp and its just fine! The only thing that I really don't like about it is that the arm does not automatically move itself back to the resting position at the end of an album. Other than that it's a great little unit and I love it!

1 out of 5 stars Very unsatisfactory   July 13, 2010

I am very displeased with the Crosley CR40 Compact 3 Speed Turntable. I got it out of the box to listen to the sound quality and the "needle" just skids across the record. I got out the manual and again read all the particulars. Same thing. So I called them and got someone named Caroline on the line who said that the needle may have been broken in shipping and told me I could "buy a new one". My problem! Very unsatisfactory customer service.

4 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for.   June 10, 2010

I've got some pretty good memories of Sunday mornings with my family, playing vinyl on our old behemoth stereo. I wanted to get into collecting some of the records I remembered from back then, so I looked all over the reviews for turntables and realized that I would never be as hardcore about collecting and playing as some of the reviewers. I had started looking for cheap with a pre-amp (because I don't have room for huge speakers and all that nonsense) when I came across this little thing. It's cheaper than I figured I'd end up paying and it's nice and compact. I got it yesterday and tested it out on 3 different 33's as I don't have any 78's or 45's yet. It is exactly what I wanted. I will say that the volume doesn't go very loud, that's why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. If you're not interested in shelling out $$$ for a system just to play a few records now and then or if you want something retro looking for your kids to play records on, I think you'd be happy with this.
