2 out of 5 stars Terrible Video Quality   August 28, 2010

I ordered this amplifier essentially to be an HDTV switch. I have HDMI outputs from my Playstation3, my Dell PC, and my HD Tivo, but only one HDMI input on my TV. Well, I guess you could say that technically it worked -- but the video quality was HORRIBLE. Technically it was still passing through a 1080p signal, but there was a very noticeable degradation of video quality when running the HDMI signal through the amp vs. connecting directly to the TV. The picture more or less looked like standard 480i, or perhaps 480p if I am really generous.

This amp is not acceptable or useful for my purposes and it is going back in the mail tomorrow as a return to amazon. (Thank god for amazon's great return policy! I am glad I ordered from amazon and not elsewhere!)

If you are more interested in audio functions and just want to use this amp to process audio/speaker signals, it might be ok. I was so unhappy with the video quality that I didn't bother to set up any speakers and check out the audio.

1 out of 5 stars Do Not Order From Amazon Warehouse Deals!!!   August 26, 2010

Receiver was DOA. Would not power on. Amazon will not send replacement if ordered from Amazon Warehouse Deals. Had to send it back and re-order it again from Amazon while waiting for a refund.

5 out of 5 stars Nice and simple   August 24, 2010

Sound quality is great, no noise at all even at high volume. Running it very hard, things are stable and solid. Does not have all the features of the 467 but the price is very good for 600 watts and basic 5.1 surround decoding. I do wish it had a little smaller footprint.

4 out of 5 stars Great product in this price range   August 13, 2010

When our %$#@! Onkyo home theatre system went from giving us trouble to not working at all we looked for a replacement and found the user reviews of this receiver persuasive. We wanted a reasonably priced unit that would be easy to set up and operate without bringing in a technician, and that's what we got. We had little trouble setting it up, although like most of today's electronics there is an annoying series of menus and sub-menus to go through to change almost anything. But we were able to get it connected to all our other components and operating properly quite quickly. We've been watching DVDs and listening to CDs for two weeks now and haven't found a thing to complain about, unless wondering if we should replace our old 5.1 speaker setup to bring the sound up to the level of the new receiver counts as a problem. We're pleased with the RX-V367 and recommend it to anyone looking for good performance at an attractive price.

4 out of 5 stars Great receiver especially for the price, can't beat 4 HDMI inputs!   August 12, 2010

I purchased this receiver to replace an old RCA unit. I paired it with Klipsch HD 300 series speakers and bought the entire package for a scream of a deal from Tigerdirect, I didn't even have to pay shipping as the "big" Tiger warehouse is in a near suburb. Most of the employees there who saw the price for the system were flabbergasted. Anyway, deals aside, I am very pleased. I have an LG 42PJ350 42" Plasma which is only 720p but hey, I bought that for an amazing price as well. This was all to replace my Sony Wega 32" CRT (which by the way had some of the best picture ever) but the size and lack of HDMI inputs made this a variable for me. I decided to upgraded everything and for under $1000 I could not be happier. LG 42PJ350 42-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV

My needs are something HD that I can plug simple HDMI cables to a fro. I am not a fan of the turn key "home theater systems" and have always liked the flexibility of receivers. I don't watch alot of DVD's I mostly stream movies from my Apple TV or watch movies from my cable provider but I do have a 1080 DVD player for those times where I want to pickup a DVD. So I need a few HDMI inputs and didn't want to compromise the sounds quality or even use the weak LG TV's speakers. So I have this Yamaha receiver, LG TV, Apple TV, HD Comcast box, and a DVD player, all with HDMI outputs. Most receivers at this price range offer 3 HDMI inputs, this one has 4 which means I have one extra slot for the future. I use the HDMI output to connect to the LG TV.

Setup is pretty simple if you've setup receivers before. I really liked that the display names can be changed, so instead of the source reading like "HDMI 1" I have that as "TV". HDMI 2 has now been renamed "DVD" and HDMI 3 has been renamed "Apple TV". All of this is done from the remote fairly easy. To me this is a important and helpful feature found on higher end units.

Setup and confirguration is all nice. I really like that I can manually setup the input/output feeds as well. For instance, I have a Kodak Zi6 HD video camera a model without a HDMI cable. This utilizes the component cables. This Yamaha does not have a component input paired immediately with a stereo RCA input, they have two AV inputs (AV1 and AV2 that have Yr B and Gr with a optical audio). The camera uses analog Red and White for the audio. So, what I was able to do was hook up the component cables to the camera, and the analog red and white the Audio 1 input on the receiver. I was then able to go into the setup for AV1 and switch the audio signal from the default optical input to the "Audio 1" input where I was able to plug in the cables. From there, the HDMI cable to the TV monitor spit out the video signal and the audio was contained by the receiver allowing me to listen to the recorded sounds through the receiver. I am very happy with the expandability of this unit.

Since I installed Boxee on my Apple TV, I am able to play MANY different types of video files as well. I stream the video files from a shared in-house server thru my Netgear router and the image and sound that comes thru is better than the streams from Netflix. Its truly a media machine now.

I have also purchased a Logitech Harmony One, coming from using Harmony's for many years now, the One is a nice fit. I really enjoy the customizeable touch screen and being able to add icons to the touchscreen for favorite channels means my kids actually use the remote as well. The "Help" button on these remotes helps as well as kids and wives often mess up the firing order. Logitech Harmony One Universal Remote with Color Touch Screen

The Klipsch speakers are a nice match to this system. I know there are better ones than the HD 300 but I am happy with what I bought. The system is in a fairly small room so there is no need to overpower anything. Klipsch HD 300 Compact 5.1 High Definition Theater system (Set of Six, Black)
