5 out of 5 stars Awesome Receiver!   July 17, 2010

My husband picked out this receiver and we pre-ordered it back in March 2010. Since we got it in May, we really are impressed in all that it can do in changing regular dvds into high definition, mp3 compatible, hooking up our camera, thumb drives... My husband set up the tv to the receiver that I don't have to change channels on the tv to watch a movie or do the wii, it is all done on the receiver alone. It is a definitely an upgrade from what we had. It also works great with our surround sound. We are very impressed!

2 out of 5 stars Didn't work, bought a sony 1010 instead   July 11, 2010

I bought this to replace an old 700 watt sony (698 I think-no hdmi) and I wanted something to future proof my system since I has upgrading. The receiver was shipped timely, but the video no showed up even though I had all four hdmi devices hooked up properly(sound came out of the fronts, but not the rears even though I did the auto setup. I returned and bought a Sony 1010 that also has a 3d hdmi. Everything works now.

1 out of 5 stars Video issues with PS3 and Xbox   July 2, 2010

I really loved this receiver. The sound is great. Setup easy. There are plenty of options. I loved it until I started using my PS3 and Xbox 360 with it. This unit seems to have issues with consoles. It constantly cuts out and scrambles the video (sometimes audio but thats rare) from my consoles. The only way to fix it is turn off/turn on the receiver or not plug the video in. I'm pretty tech savvy and can fix most problems. I have switched cables, changed connections around, everything I can think of to fix the issue. Sadly nothing works. The only way is to bypass the receiver completely. When I purchased this receiver I liked it so much I recommended it to my father. I went to visit him recently and was curious if his would do the same thing so I took my xbox. Sure enough his unit has the exact same video issues. If you have an xbox or playstation I would not buy this receiver. If you don't and never plan to get one, this unit is a good buy for your money,

1 out of 5 stars vsx-920-k doesn't work with my ps3   June 8, 2010

the picture and sound from my 6 month old ps3 goes in and out when connected to the vsx-920-k. i spoke with pioneer tech support, after an hour of changing wires and changing hdmi ports they concluded the pioneer unit was bad. i received a new pioneer unit and the same problem happened again. although i am not a tech i do sell audio/video cables for a living and i'm pretty good with this stuff. i tried every way possible to make this work including changing all of the wires and changing from hdmi inputs to component inputs. the second i remove the pioneer vsx-920-k from the equation the ps3 works with no problems. i find it amazing that this unit won't work with the #1 selling blu-ray on the planet. very disapointed!!!!

3 out of 5 stars Not fully assignable   June 6, 2010

Bought this a couple weeks ago...returned it because you can't name hdmi inputs. I had the 919 and you could assign the inputs to whatever you wanted. For instance if I connected a xbox 360 or ps3, I could name the input to whatever I chose. With the newer 920, supposedly better than the 919, you are stuck with whatever the default input is. When playing xbox you have to chose between sat/bd/dvd/dvr. A small thing but annoying nonetheless. I called pioneer about this and they confirmed. You must get the 1020 or 1120 to have fully assignable hdmi inputs.
