Product Description
In addition to featuring the latest high resolution audio decoders, including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, the AVR-2310CI is among the first to incorporate Dolby Pro Logic IIz, which provides a dramatic expansion of the front soundstage by deriving additional front channel height effects. For optimum video quality, the AVR-2310CI features state-of-the-art video processing via Anchor Bay VRS ABT-2010, which provides analog to digital video upconversion as well as HDMI to HDMI upconversion, outputting at up to full 1080p HD (24p/60p). To ensure top audio fidelity, the AVR-2310CI features Audyssey MultEQ room acoustic measurement and correction, which analyzes speaker system characteristics at up to six measurement points and the room's acoustics, and instantly adjusts multiple parameters for optimum speaker/room matching (measurement microphone included). Audyssey Dynamic Volume prevents annoying volume jumps due to loud commercials between program breaks, and Audyssey Dynamic EQ ensures a rich, smooth tonal balance at any volume level. Multiple HD-compatible inputs includes two component inputs and five HDMI inputs for maximum HD connectivity.

3 out of 5 stars Excellent audiophile receiver, until it stops working   August 27, 2010
Tiggertai (Idaho, USA)
The 2310ci is my second Denon AV receiver, and I remained loyal to the brand due to the excellent sound quality, the features, and the brand reputation. The receiver powers a 7.1 speaker system, providing incredibly loud/clear surround sound with our blu-ray player. However...

Unlike my previous Denon receiver, this unit is not made in Japan. After reading other users' issues with this model, I wonder if the Chinese-made Denon's are no longer fulfilling the classic Denon reputation. After about a year of solid performance, our 2310ci suddenly stopped working. No audio output, and no video output for the sources (blu-ray) that were processed through the receiver. Also, most of the input from the remote (menu/volume/etc...) weren't recognized by the reciever, not registering on the TV or the unit's lcd display. After several long unplugs and multiple resets (hold down "ON - " at the same time) and a call to customer service, it started working again. Of course with the reset and unplugging of everything from the back, I now needed about 2hrs to get it all plugged in, set up and working again. It worked for a month, then the same thing all over again. Then another month, and it's broken/frozen again, except this time no amount of resetting seems to fix it. So, it's off to our local service center - I'll update my review with the outcome.

5 out of 5 stars Very happy 2310 user   August 21, 2010

I am a Denon veteran having previously owned the AVR 1908. I was so pleased with the sound that a was able to look past the obnoxious menus and incompatible OSD to take a chance on the 2310 after losing the 1908 in a divorce. Pricing was an issue, so waiting until the end of the model year price decrease was a must. Saved over $300.

The AVR-2310 is light years easier to set-up than the predecessor I owned. OSD worked incredibly well. Audyssy auto configuration worked like a champ. The amp is teamed with Definitive Technology Pro cinema 60.6 kit with 12 year-old BP6 LR fronts. The sound is full and balanced.

The spec I did not read about and did not expect to need was the 1080p upscaling. For most viewing I was already using a minimum 720p source, but there was some SD programming on cable that was not supported by my LG 60pk550 TV. The upscaling worked wonderfully.

I am also seeing a lot of comments around the net about video gaming lag with this receiver. I play sports games on PS3 where timing is very important. No lag noticed whatsoever.

In short, I highly recommend this product. It has features for the in-depth technophile and the plug-n-play user alike.

i bought this receiver after having an absolutely horrible experience with an onkyo product on every level, cust service compatibility etc.
i just decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to this bad boy and i could not be happier, i hooked it up calibrated it and i was done, hasn't skipped a beat.

5 out of 5 stars Nice unit !   July 24, 2010

I read many reviews about many brands before I bought the Denon.

All I can say is that the "difficult to use" reputation is not deserved. The unit fully meets my expectations and makes my room rock to the soundtrack of my favourite movies. It far outperforms the 12 year old NAD it replaced at a fraction of the price.

YAY !!!
