1 out of 5 stars Please Reconsider Before Buying this Amp!   July 19, 2010

I bought two of these units after reading several glowing reviews of its features, sound quality and "bang for the buck". Unfortunately, both units arrived with different mechanical flaws. The first unit had a problem with the digital inputs resulting in high volume output and clipping even when the volume was very low. Within seconds, the unit shut itself off and the digital inputs ceasing to function for a period. (A blue blinking power button is a bad sign for this amp . . .)

The second unit I purchased would intermittently recognize inputs (digital, HDMI, etc.), but would not output any sound. After doing a factory reset on the unit 3-10 times, the unit would output to speakers properly. Thankfully for me, both of these units arrived with these issues showing up immediately and thus was able to return them for refund. If the problems didn't show up for months, I suspect it would have been much more challenging to address the problem.

Bottom line, the features and sound quality of this amp are great, but the lack of reliability is enough to scare me away for good.

5 out of 5 stars Wow...   July 13, 2010

Here'sMy setup: Polk CS10 center Klipsch ASW110 (is that the right subwoofer model number), Klipsch WF-34 (Bi-amped), Klipsch Promedia's for rear. I'm not sure why everyone says that this thing is so hard to set up. It's really quite easy to set up. The hardest part for me was getting the proper connections from the Klipsch Pro-media's to this receiver. But then again, that would apply to any amplifier since I'm trying to take 3.5mm dual channel to RCA to speaker wire...(you try and find easier solution). Only complaint is the sound quality from the Ipod...but I guess I should have expected that since everything else, I'm running through HDMI.

Overall, awesome receiver. Best bang for the buck. Pioneer delivers again. Keep it up guys.

1 out of 5 stars Broken in less than 6 months, and warranty sucks - Norman and Pioneer   July 11, 2010

I did not really get to use this product after setting it up in December 2009 in a new media theater. In April, the Video output stopped working completely. It has now been with Norman Duluth, official authorized service center of Pioneer for 2 months and still counting.

My advice, do not touch this product - as it seems there is a known issue with the Video circuits.

4 out of 5 stars Great sound and video, remote is too complex   June 27, 2010

Bought this instead of the new 1020 because of the great 2009 reviews, did not need the new features such as 3D, and the price was $100 less. The sound and video is great. The automatic MCACC worked good, only had to adjust the crossover. Only real annoyance is the remote that is too complex. Took me awhile to realize there are 2 buttons called RECEIVER. Once setup, it is working great.

3 out of 5 stars OK For Price...Save Your $ For Better Receiver   June 20, 2010

I bought this receiver for the high marks it received from multiple different reviews. It has about the most features you will find in this price range. But, setup is a pain because the owner's manual is TERRIBLE & there is a very noticeable delay when switching between HDMI sources. Often, when the unit is first turned on, a blank screen will appear on my TV & I must switch to another source & then back to the TV source to get a picture. The remote is also designed very poorly. Overall, I am disappointed in this receiver and will definitely save my money for a receiver in a higher price range next time.
