5 out of 5 stars BEST DVD - VHS COMBO FOR WAY LESS $ THAN SONY   September 7, 2010
David Norwood (Arroyo Grande CA Central Coast)
If you need a VCR and have a few older VCRs around, you can not go wrong with the Samsung V9800 DVD-VCR combo. You can attach a HDMI cord to see Blu-Ray quality from your DVDs and still have your good old VHS to see your already transferred home movies or movies you still love.. I like the idea that I could buy older VCR movies to add to my collection for hardly any cost. Also, if you need any support, you can reach Samsung very easy, no or short phone holds, great company. Certainly better than Sony and much less money.

Purchased refurbished unit. Looks new out of the box. Immediately, DVD drawer will not open. Contacted Samsung, they need a copy of the receipt before they will initiate any service. I have rarely ever, in my 56 years, received a non-working product in a box. Samsung should have been gracious enough to send another and accept the receipt with the old unit. They certainly could have asked for a credit card guarantee like many tech companies (e.g.: Apple) do. This is just more hassle than it needs to be. It will be a long time before I buy a Samsung anything again. To their credit, Customer Service was open on Labor Day.

Product is working good the only thing that was a problem is that it is not cable ready and I had to purchase another item to make everything work.

We bought this product to replace an Emerson that was stolen. It works wonderfully. Would purchase the same product again.

This Seller is bad news, I bought this item on July 30 2010 because I had a DVD VCR combo that I thought was broken but I had fixed it the day after I purchase this item, So I contact the seller and asked him could I retuen the item and I then explain why.At first he seem not to have a problem with it and he was willing to work with me. The first day the item was return UPS had the wrong shipping address so they had to correct it which they did, the second attempt he was not their to sign for the package the third attempt they had to leave it at the seller door. When I contact him about the item on the second delivery attempt he send me a real nasty email because I did an Amazon A-Z claim saying that he had all his proof that the item was not their and he will not be giving me a rrefund, needless to say I did not give up I contact customer service at Amazon and my bank about a fraud charge three weaks later I finnally have a refund through Amazon A-Z Claim, I will not buy anything else from this seller again nor will I recommond anyone else either. I do recomond this seller to go to Buisness school if he wants to be a good salemen and then maybe he will know how to treat his customers the right way.
