 Size really does matter... September 5, 2010

I should have heeded the warnings about size issues in other reviews, but I decided to take a chance after reading only good things about how these speakers sound. While advertised as a 6.5" speaker, these bad boys are actually 7" in diameter. I was unable to mount them properly into the rear deck of my Accord without some serious cutting/drilling/fabrication. It didn't work out for me, but fortunately Amazon's return policy is top notch, so it was worth trying. They looked good, felt good, and seemed to be well constructed, but I never plugged them in. I decided to shoot them back and find something that fits into my stock enclosure (I ended up with some Pioneers that are 6.5" as they claim to be). If you have the extra .5" go for it, otherwise don't waste your time.

I picked these up to replace the stock speakers in a 2006 Toyota Matrix. I would have given these 5 stars, but they were a pain to install. they are a little larger than a standard 6.5in speaker, so i had to get a little creative with the installation. Other than that, these are great speakers. Plan on spending some time adjusting on your head unit. Like it was said in other reviews, the tweeters are loud!

I built tuned port boxes for these speakers. Used a 1.34 cf box with a 3" dia. port of 5.5" length. Filled the box with poly-fill. The sound is quite bright. I have turned my treble setting down 8 db to compensate. They require some break-in time. 24 hours play should do it. The bass is tight and solid. -3db is at about 40 Hz. Could probably stand a sub-woofer for music with major bottom end content. Sound best with instrumentals, especially acoustic guitars.

Dont mess with the Pyle and Boss crap,,Just get these for your slightly larger than 6 1/2" hole and pop 4 in your doors you can add a sub but really dont need one with these Nice Fosgates , Totally tight speakers and very happy with them have them in my Grand Cherokee and my Subaru Legacy,,great price,,fairly easy install(but im experienced)they dont quite fit the 6.5" hole have to drill new holes wich is not a problem for most However these will not drop right into a 6.5 hole so be prepared for that issue but once you get em in they sound very very awesome NICE,,5 stars,,Buy These!
